As part of the Breeding team activities we have introduced two new classes to the Summer Festival (entries close 3rd June). Futurity Gait and Futurity Tölt. A unique feature of the Futurity classes is that small faults are not penalised and the Judges concentrate on the good parts of the performance instead. This is open to all riders with horses aged 5 to 7 years of age. The class is to allow youngsters to come to the Oval track and enjoy their experience, whilst riders have more flexibility in showing the horse to its best ability on that day. You can read more details below and how the judges mark it here.

For 5, 6 and 7 year old horses:

Futurity GAIT

  • One horse/rider combination on the track
  • The rider has up to 5 minutes to show 2 gaits of choice plus tölt
  • Change of rein allowed
  • If a horse is shown in pace, the max. is 2 long sides of the track
  • In order to achieve higher marks in Tölt, speed variations have to be shown
  • Small mistakes are not penalised
  • Three judges
  • GB team leader, Baddi, gives a running commentary on what can be improved in the performance
  • Marks: each shown gait x 1, Tölt x 2, Beauty/presence x 1 – total divided by 5
  • No finals; the marks from the preliminaries are end marks

Futurity TÖLT

  • One horse/rider combination on the track
  • The rider has up to 5 minutes to show one or more of the following:
  • Slow tölt, speed variations, fast tölt, loose rein tölt
  • Change of rein allowed
  • Small mistakes are not penalised
  • Three judges
  • GB team leader, Baddi, gives a running commentary on what can be improved in the performance
  • Marks: Tölt x 2, Beauty/presence x 1 – total divided by 3
  • No finals; the marks from the preliminaries are end marks

If you haven’t entered yet there’s still time!
