FIZO assessment postponed to May 2022 but a series of 3 webinars will be organised for 2021 which will serve very well as preparation for next year’s FIZO.
**There were only a few interested parties in this spring’s FIZO assessment and there was a problem to organise travelling judges due to the current COVID restrictions, so we had no choice but to postpone the FIZO to May 2022**
We have however come up with an alternative plan which will hopefully appeal to many people. We will hold a series of 3 webinars which will serve very well as preparation for next year’s FIZO.
1st Webinar: Everything you need to know about presenting a horse for a FIZO assessment
Looking at photos and video footage, we will learn about ..
- Good and bad in a horse’s conformation and the effect it has on its ability as a riding horse
- How to present the horse for a conformation judgement
- Ridden assessment – looking at all the gaits
- How to ride the horse in a FIZO ridden assessment
This should be of interest to anyone who rides Icelandic horses, not just people who are interested in a FIZO assessment, as conformation traits and flaws have an effect on every riding horse, not just a breeding horse. No doubt it will be an entertaining night and we hope to see as many of you as possible.

2nd Webinar: Meet the young horses in the UK
Following our popular “Meet the foals” webinar last autumn (to be repeated this year), we will put into practice what we’ve learned in the 1st webinar.
Everyone is invited to produce a video where they present their horse for a conformation assessment, perhaps also sending in a couple of photos of the horse standing still from front, side and back. Our judge will give comments and indications of scores that horse could receive in a “real” assessment, as well as tips how to improve the presentation.
The video should then also include footage of the horse running free, so that the judge can comment on its gait distribution and abilities.
Participation charge for sending a video in: £ 10 per horse
Webinar participation: FOC
3rd Webinar: FIZO assessment online trial
You are invited to send in a video of your horse, first for the conformation assessment, and then a ridden assessment, videoed on a straight track where you present the horse in all gaits you want to show. The judge will give an indication of marks based on the presentation, and will give tips how to improve the potential marks.
Everyone is invited to participate, not just people with breeding horses. It should be fun to look at all the videos and for sure we will all learn a lot.
Participation charge for sending a video in: £ 10 per horse

We will issue separate, more detailed invitations closer to the time, the first webinar is planned to take place in April so watch out.
