Who you are and location: My name is Linda Frith (Known to all as Linnie), and I live near the coastal village of Solva, in Pembrokeshire, Wales

- Your Occupation: I am a Self-Employed Professional Care Assistant. I am trained in Palliative care and specialise in Dementia Support. I run a home care support service, named Linnie Cares, in the surrounding villages, where I live. I also support catering functions at my local army barracks, as a chef.
- How long you have been riding: I have been around horses most of my life. I had a gap whilst my career as a publican moved me around the country. Then I started riding again when I was introduced to the Icelandic horse for the first time, back in 2007.

- How you became interested and involved with Icelandic Horses: My cousin had just bought a new horse and asked for some help at her livery yard. When I arrived, there were four owners of Icelandic Horses also on the yard. I got to know everyone, and they were so generous to allow me to start riding and helping to care for the horses. I very quickly was going to Icelandic Horse meetups and rides. Before long, I had my first two Icelandic’s. Meeting more owners and then Mic Rushen, who I eventually, ended up moving to Wales, to live near and help run the farm Solva Icelandic’s. I am still here today.
- Your Horses-Past and Present: I have been very fortunate to have had some amazing horses in my life. My first horse as a teenager, was a 15’2hh welshxTB named Ceri. Then my next horse I owned, more than 15 years later, was my first Icelandic Horse Blika frá Hrólfsstöðum. We had 9 very exciting years together. She taught me nearly everything I know about the Icelandic Horse. (Not always the easy way), but I would do it all again, if we had the chance. She gave me two beautiful foals, who grew up and have wonderful family homes. As well as Blika, I also had Fjola on permanent loan, who I rode for several years, before she retired to live in Wales with me. She was the most wonderful Icey. She was small and mighty at 12’2hh. I then added Stjarna to my herd, several years later. She was a wonderful mare. We completed a 100 mile ride across the South Downs Way, to raise money for Cancer research & Hannah’s Wilberry wonder pony, with Jane Stone & Jenny Blakey. That was an amazing experience. (we raised over £3500).
I had a few cobs for a short while before finding my heart horse, KizNik Joy (Kizzy). She is a Clydesdale X cob and has been with me 8 years now. She had a fantastic foal in 2023, KizNik Kilgharrah ( AKA Grandma’s baby/GB/Geebs). She will be 2yrs old in April.
I then added several more Icelandics to my herd, over the past few years. Imported from Iceland, France and bought in Wales,GB. My latest imports are both in foal and due this summer. My main riding horse is Best Boy Sesar fra Hrisum. He is a sensitive soul, a worrier, a lot like his human companion (me), but we have a great trust and relationship built up over the past four years together.

- What you most enjoy doing with your horses: I Love being with the horses. I enjoy watching the horses in a herd, groundwork and handling of young horses. I enjoy hacking out and occasionally do courses to help, further develop our skills.
- What other interests you have ( assuming there is time left in your life) I love my poultry! I have built a chicken village & breed Serema hens. Obviously now the IHSGB trustee position has also taken a priority, in my spare time. I like to do cross-stitch. Love a series binge watch on Netflix.
