More of us will be able to enjoy hacking in local woodlands and forests after Forestry England announced today that a horse riding permit will no longer be needed in 49 of its woodlands from May this year.
It follows a comprehensive two-year public review of its horse riding paid-for permit system.
“This will make horse riding accessible to more riders across the nation’s forests. Our decision reflects our commitment for the nation’s forests in our care to be as welcoming and available to visitors as possible, including our equestrian community,” said Mike Seddon, Forestry England’s chief executive.
