The breeding committees used the opportunity in Frankfurt end of October to prepare the 2024 season, but also to discuss long-term developments in Icelandic horse breeding. A variety of proposals and discussion topics were prepared for the Delegates’ Assembly 2024 and for the Annual Breeding Leader meeting 2024 in Luxembourg in February 2024.
One of the biggest events in 2023 were the World Championships 2023 and based on the feedback from the teams, the organizer and many visitors, it was obvious that the breeding show was very successful and improvements in the course of the show much appreciated. The committee already started a discussion on further improvements for the breeding show at the World Championships 2025 in Switzerland.
Preparations for various seminars are already under way, including the biannual Breeding Judge seminar, Ringmaster seminars for licensed and new Ringmasters, but also various educational online seminars, allowing a large group of interested persons to participate. Further topics were among others the appointment of a “naming” group that can take final decisions in questions of horse names, the situation of WorldFengur and the necessity to make this important tool fit for the future and the next steps in BLUP research with the inclusion of sport results.
