On 20 August 2024, the ground-breaking ceremony for the centrepiece of the 2025 World Championships for Icelandic Horses – the official World Championships oval track and the pace track which will also be used for breeding presentations – took place at Hardwinkelhof in Birmenstorf, Switzerland.
For Roman Spieler, head of the OC, the official start of construction is an important milestone: ‘With the ground-breaking ceremony for the competition tracks, everything is now becoming a reality. We have been planning the the World Championships 2025 since 2019, so the start of the construction is a very significant day.’
The training tracks were already completed in July 2024 and will offer the riders and their horses ideal conditions for preparing for their tests.
