Beware of Imitations! – a genuine Icelandic horse must have a passport which shows its bloodlines can be traced back to horses in Iceland. Usually that passport will be from the IHSGB (or another national Icelandic horse society if the horse is not British-bred). All registered Icelandic horses are entered into WorldFengur, the international database of Icelandic horses (IHSGB members have free access to this database). If you are considering buying a horse or pony which has been advertised as an Icelandic and you are not sure of its breeding, please contact the IHSGB studbook for clarification.

Blökk frá Kjarri – 9-Year-Old First Prize Assessed Icelandic Mare
Inserted 18 February 2026
Beautiful black Icelandic mare, Blökk frá Kjarri, 9 years old this month, standing approximately 134 cm (13.1hh).
She was shown at a breeding assessment in 2022 and achieved a First Prize assessment, highlighting her quality and potential.
Her sire is Stáli frá Kjarri, who has received an honorary prize for his offspring. Her dam is also First Prize assessed and has a number of offspring who are also first prize.
She is a fun, talented mare with plenty of ability and would suit someone looking to continue her training, enjoy her under saddle, and potentially compete. She also loves liberty work and enjoys heading out on long trail rides, making her a versatile horse who can be appreciated in many different ways.
Blökk is a sensitive and responsive horse, so she is not suitable for a novice rider. She would be best matched with a confident, experienced rider who appreciates an athletic horse and enjoys building a partnership through training.
With her proven quality and excellent pedigree, she would also make an outstanding broodmare prospect.
Serious enquiries only, please. This horse has lots of competition and breeding potential and offers are invited that reflect that potential.
