IHSGB SUMMER SHOW & BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

The Sport Group and Trustees of the IHSGB invite all members and friends to join us for a celebration of the Icelandic horse. There will be a full range of oval track and pace tests, plus dressage (DWTT), Figures Test (FG1 & FG2) and Track & Trail (TT1). Full catering will be available.
Entry fees cover the whole weekend and include as many tests as you want to ride (subject to FEIF regulations) plus camping for you and your horse(s).
OVAL TRACK TESTS
The oval track tests will consist of one day of preliminary rounds and one day of finals this year. This year the Mid-European Championships will take place in Austria. The Sport B classes will be qualifiers for that competition. With emphasis being on Sport B this year, it has been decided that there will be no Sport A Finals. Entry to Sport A is restricted to those horse/rider combinations with a qualifying mark. If you do not know if you qualify, then please contact the Sport Group by email at sportgroup@ihsgb.co.uk
CHOICE OF TESTS
Sport A: T1, T2, V1, F1 subject to qualifying marks. No finals.
Sport B: T3, T4, V2, F2
Intermediate: T5, T6, V3, F3
Elementary: T7, V5
Pace events: P2, PP1

Best of Four (BOF) On Sunday for anyone not making it to a final.

FINALS
There will be finals on the Sunday for oval track classes (except Sport A) where there are a minimum of 3 starters in the preliminary round.
B-finals will be held where the number of entrants in a class is 15 or more. The winner of the B-Final will be eligible to start in the A-Final.
Competitors who don’t make it into any finals will be eligible to take part in the Best of Four class on Sunday morning.
NO TEST RESTRICTIONS
There are no restrictions on the type of oval track tests you can enter, e.g. you can enter the T7 and T6 or V5 and F3 on the same day.
You may only start is one Figures Test.
AGE RESTRICTIONS
The number of ‘starts’ is down to the age of the horse: Horses aged 5 years can do a maximum of 2 tests per day. Horses aged 6 years a maximum of 3 tests per day. Horses ages 7 years and above a maximum of 4 tests per day.

VACCINATIONS
The IHSGB and Aston-le- Walls Equestrian Centre require horses to have had all three initial vaccinations and annual, or more frequent) boosters. Horses without the required vaccinations will not be permitted to enter the venue. Horses that have recently started or re-started the course must have had the first two doses. The last vaccine dose must have been administered at least 7 days before the competition.
We will ask you to include photos of your horse’s passport and vaccination record with the online entry form.
Please note that the various equestrian governing bodies have updated their vaccination requirements recently and they now all have variations on a vaccination with six months of attending a competition. IHSGB will be reviewing its rules with a view to bringing the IHSGB rules in line.
STABLES
There are a limited number of stables available. These can be booked on the entry form.
Stables are compulsory for stallions. If you are planning to bring a stallion, please enter asap to ensure that you get a stable.
Stables: £100 per stable for two days.
TACK & EQUIPMENT
The competition will run according to the FEIF Rules and Regulations, with two exceptions:
- Standard British shoes over 10mm thick will be allowed for intermediate and elementary tests and the Track & Trail, provided the cross-sectional area is not greater than 230mm2.
- Hoof boots are also allowed in these classes – maximum weight including additional protective equipment 600gms per hoof/leg. No more than 250gms difference between front and hind. All four hooves must have boots unless they weigh less than 250gm (e.g. Scoot boots), in which case boots may be used on front hooves only with no additional protective equipment.
Whips must not be longer than 120cm (including the tassel).
Boots and protective equipment must not exceed 250g per leg.

APPEARANCE OF THE HORSE
“The Icelandic horse is a unique breed with special qualities. It shall be shown respect unreservedly. The following Rules apply at all times: the natural appearance (e.g. natural growth and colour of hair) of the horse shall not be changed. Exceptions the mane and tail may be trimmed if too long and the horse may be clipped for health and welfare reasons. Hair on the muzzle, fetlocks, and inside the ears shall not be clipped.”

RIDERS’ ATTIRE
Riders must wear correctly fitted riding helmets, and either long riding boots or jodhpur boots.
We ask that riders wear appropriate and tidy attire in plain colours preferably blues, black or white in respect for our judges and VIPs.
CATERING
Sarah and Linnie have very kindly agreed to provide the catering for us again this year from Friday evening until Sunday lunchtime.
There is a catering package available for the whole weekend. Details will be available soon. Food and drink (bacon rolls and tea, for example) will be available all day on an ad hoc basis as well.

Breakfast – Saturday and Sunday
Lunch – Saturday and Sunday – Lunch will be available on Friday if required
Dinner – Friday and Saturday
RIDER’S ENTRY FEE
IMPORTANT
Complete a separate copy of the initial entry form with payment via PayPal (see IHSGB website) for every rider in your party. Detailed test entries can be made later. A link to the detailed entry form will be provided to competitors who have submitted their initial entry form. The detailed entry form requires horse passport images so that vaccination records can be checked. Passports submitted before 15th May 2024 will allow time for any horses with incorrect vaccination records to start a new vaccination programme before the competition. It is recommended that you take advantage of this opportunity as incorrectly vaccinated horses will not be allowed onto the competition venue.
