IHSGB Breeding Weekend with lessons and competition

The IHSGB breeding Team invite you to The Breeding & Competition Weekend – Sat 4th May / Sun 5th May 2024 at Netherton Equestrian, Netherton Farm, Aberargie, Perthsire, PH2 9NE
This year, the IHSGB is traveling to Scotland and the breeding team is pleased to invite you to a weekend full of activities and fun for riders of all abilities and spectators alike. There is a charge for visitors of £ 5 which will include participation in a get together on Saturday evening, where our judge will explain the connection between rideability and conformation of horses, and give useful tips and hints for riding in Sunday’s competition.
Stabling:

Feed:
Unless agreed otherwise with the yard, please bring your horse feed with you.
Rules:

Dogs are welcome, but must stay on the lead at all times.
There might be a burger van (depending on numbers), we will update you closer to the event.
Preliminary timetable:
Saturday from 1pm:
- Afternoon lessons (up to 2 people per group) – please indicate in the booking form what you would like to practice (a test that you intend to ride next day, or work on a particular problem – please give as much information as possible so that we can pair riders).
- Young horse assessment
- Conformation assessment
- Evening: get together at The Famous Bein Inn – dinner, questions and answers about riding the tests on Sunday, connection between ride ability and conformation

Showtime – tests on offer:
V2 – Group intermediate four gait test (up to 3 riders). The horses show the four gaits as instructed by the speaker. The sections include:
- Slow tölt
- Slow to medium speed trot
- Medium walk
- Slow to medium speed canter
- Fast tölt
V5 – Group elementary four gait test (up to 5 riders). The horses show the four gaits as instructed by the speaker. The sections include:
- Any speed tölt
- Slow to medium speed trot
- Medium walk
- Slow to medium speed canter
T3 – Group intermediate tölt test (up to 3 riders). The horses show the sections as instructed by the speaker. These include:
- Slow tölt
Return to walk and change rein - Slow tölt; lengthen stride distinctly on the long sides, on the short sides slow
- Fast tölt
T6 – Group elementary tölt test (up to 5 riders). The horses show the sections as instructed by the speaker. These include:
- Any speed tölt
Return to walk and change rein - Slow to medium speed tölt; on the long sides holding both reins in one hand clearly showing no rein contact with the horse’s mouth
T8 – Group elementary tölt test (up to 5 riders). The horses show the sections as instructed by the speaker. These include:

Cost:
£ 120 for the weekend (includes lesson on Saturday, small conformation judgement of your horse, evening Q&A session and competition on Sunday)
