Beware of Imitations! – a genuine Icelandic horse must have a passport which shows its bloodlines can be traced back to horses in Iceland. Usually that passport will be from the IHSGB (or another national Icelandic horse society if the horse is not British-bred). All registered Icelandic horses are entered into WorldFengur, the international database of Icelandic horses (IHSGB members have free access to this database). If you are considering buying a horse or pony which has been advertised as an Icelandic and you are not sure of its breeding, please contact the IHSGB studbook for clarification.

Leira
If a cream-coloured Icelandic horse is your dream, then Leira is looking for a new postcode. Rising 5, ready to start, friendly, easy to handle, had one gorgeous foal (and could go back to the stallion if required). She’s light palomino, chunky and about 13hh, shows tolt and trot in the field. Used to traffic, good with the farrier, loads, leads and very laid back. Pembrokeshire, Wales. Kria
Native Americans call this colour “medicine hat” and say it’s very lucky. If you need a bit of cuddly good luck, then Kria is your girl! Rising 5, ready to start. Used to seeing (light) traffic, good to lead, load etc, plenty of tolt, good trot and a lovely friendly nature. She’s had a cracking filly foal we are keeping and has a half-brother competing very successfully in Germany. About 13.2hh. Pembrokeshire, Wales. Contact mic@solva-icelandics.co.uk

LOOKING FOR A SPECIAL HOME
Looking for an experienced kind and loving home for a very special Icelandic mare “Dimma”
She is 16 years old, but sadly has EMS and cannot tolerate good grass, or any high sugar food. Therefore, an outdoor all surface area, very rough grazing or grass free paddock (must be well drained in winter) so she can be kept out 24/7 as this suits her better and fed hay. Could also be partly stabled if needed. No sweet itch.
To be kept into her retirement although she can be lightly ridden (happy to discuss this with anyone looking to ride her). I feel it would be best if she was loved for being just a companion or as a pet. She has a very loving nature and is extremely people friendly. Perhaps some liberty or in hand work would keep her mind occupied, if you wanted to do this with her?
Cannot be kept on her own, or left totally alone for periods of time, as this would make her anxious. But she will stay in a paddock on her own with another pony/horse nearby.
Her EMS is under control and if her management is continued (I can explain all) then the laminitis attacks won’t re-occur.
Feet are in good shape (no signs of previous laminitis) and are regularly trimmed.
Located and can be viewed near Oxford. Contact angiepidsley@gmail.com or text 07711895911 to start a conversation & Angie will ring back. Thankyou
